| Bill carries Thierry.......what's next? Pigs flying? |
Lately, the team of Thierry Dubois and Bill Beyer have been "extra Dubois", "hold the
Beyer". Not so at Santa Teresa. Thierry was a little off his game and shot 90. I'm
sure a lot of us would have liked a 90!!! On this day he needed partner Bill to come
through in a big way. To say Bill "carried" Thierry might be an understatement. Bill's
net 62 was a huge factor in their team score of 56. His net eagles on holes 1 & 3
had the team 5 under heading to #5. Another net eagle at 9 and they made the turn
in 8 under 27. Both players had a pretty good back nine as they covered each
others mishaps.
Jim Gustafson and Angelo Matheou were next with 57 led by Jim's 90 for a net 64.
Angelo also had a good round with net 68. A team bogey on the very first hole was
the stroke that made the difference and kept them out of a first place tie.
There were two excellent rounds shot by Bruce Bartfeld and Bob Drakes, who were
playing in the same group. Bruce shot 78 with a 1-over par back nine of 37. He
birdies holes 10, 11 and 17 on his back nine charge. Bob had a very consistent
round that included birdies at 8 and 14. Nice going guys!!
