| It's a shame that Lone Tree Golf Course is so far away from most of us. It's one of the better public courses in the area. It's a nice layout and the conditions are usually good. The newly remodeled clubhouse is a nice sight as you approach 18 and an even more welcome spot for that cold one after the round. Sid Grant and Taka Kitagawa were playing in the last group and there must have been something about the late afternoon sun that seemed to spur them on. A front nine 27 was followed by a back nine 28 for a team 55 and the first prize money. Taka was very consistent with a 45-45, 90 for a net 68. Sid countered with a net 66 on his score of 100 including net eagles on 9 and 15. The disappointed second place team, who for most of the afternoon thought they had it won with their 57, were Chris and Marty Miguel. Chris picked up a lot of the slack on the front nine as the team shot 31. Marty picked it up on the back with a 37 using only 11 putts and a team 26. Marty's round of 82 was the low score of the day. In third place was the other half of the last group, Max Takaki and Alex Barna, who shot a 60. The big news from this group was the Jackpot shot of Max Takaki on the 11th hole which finished 4'-02" from the hole. With the distance to beat set at 11 '-00", Max easily took home $85 for the shot. Nice goin' Max!! Other nice rounds on this day belonged to Jim Suekama with 84, Thierry Dubois's 86 and Calvin Jenn's 87. With only a couple of rounds left in the year some of our trophy races are really heating up and yes........contrary to popular belief, there will be trophies. Even trophies for those not distributed in past years! Amazing huh? |
