Tournament Recap Alameda North Golf Course Saturday August 23, 2008

Hiler / Miller Breeze at Alameda
|
The second place shot a team 60. Jack Hiler shot a net 62 on his own ball! But as we
all know, there's no "I" in team, so combined with partner Steve Miller the duo shot a team 56
to win going away at Alameda. Jack's 89 even had a couple of 8's on the back nine so this one
could have been even better. Steve wasn't on his game but did pick up Jack on those 8's to
keep them on the winning track.
In second place were Joe Buenavista and Larry Lind with that already mentioned 60.
Larry had the hot round here with an 88. He used only 13 putts on the backside as he shot
nines of 44-44. Joe had a couple of bad holes but played well the rest of the way as his 91 was
not up to his usual standards. In third place were the "Lefties" with a score of 62. Frank
Ruccolo shot an 87 and if not for back to back sevens on the 13th and 14th, could have had a
very low round. Ken struggled on the back after a pretty good front nine but the twosome
managed to cover each other for the third place finish.
The low round of the day was shot by Bruce Bartfeld with a 79. Bruce used 33 putts
which is about 5 over his average as he could only get one birdie putt to fall. Dan Haynosch
shot an 82 with a very consistent round. Dan's only glitch was on the short but tricky par 5 14th
where he took a seven. The par-5 14th is only 477 yards long but our field of 26 players
managed only 1 birdie (Bruce) and two pars (Beyer & Greiner).
