Tournament Recap Roddy Ranch Golf Course Saturday June 25, 2011
|
Sid & Taka Gallop to Victory at the Ranch
|
Sid Grant and Taka Kitagawa shot an 18-under par 54 at the difficult Roddy Ranch
Golf Course in Antioch. Both players played well as Sid shot net 64 and Taka shot
net 66. Their 10-under par 26 on the back nine was capped off by Sid's birdie for a
net 0 on the par 3, 17th hole.
Their next closest pursuers were a distant 7 shots behind at 61. Larry Lind and Brian
Lee had what would have been a good day if not for Sid and Taka. Eleven under on
a difficult course like Roddy Ranch would have been good enough to win on most
days. A 29 on the front had them in good shape but a team bogey at the 10th got
them off to a bad start on the back.
This was actually a close tournament, well at least in the race for second. Jim
Gustafson and Angelo Matheou shot 62 with Marty and Chris Miguel another shot
back at 63.
To illustrate the difficulty of Roddy Ranch, the low round of the day was a 90 by Taka
with Bob Drakes being next with 92. If you want to see how bad the rest of us did,
check the scores below. The other issue that seemed to affect everyone was
putting. The lowest total there was 35 with a lot of high thirties and forties with a high
of 47. Nice to go back after 7 years.........see you again in 2018!!
