Escaping The Fairfield Heat!
I'm sure we've all played Rancho Solano in the summer months and had to endure
unbearable heat throughout the round.  Well, we escaped the heat this year but the
wind decided to take it's place and blew from the first tee to the 18th green.  In
general, our scores were higher than normal and I have to think the wind played a big
part in that.

One guy who didn't seem to be affected by the lack of heat or the abundance of wind
was Bruce Bartfeld who shot 80.  Combined with a very nice 87 from partner Rich
Perata, these two had a team 60 to tie for first.  Both Bruce and Rich started fast with
41's on the front nine.  Tieing for first was the team of Frank Ruccolo and Ken
Rachko.  Neither Frank or Ken were particularly happy with their rounds shooting
88-98 respectively.  Frank had a nice finish shooting 40 on the inward nine that
greatly contributed to a team 28 on the back.

In third place was the duo of Phil and Jennie Abrams.  Phil had a nice 94 for a net 68.  
Jennie had a couple of disastrous holes but played fairly steady the rest of the way
including a nice par on the difficult par-3 12th.  Some other nice rounds from Rancho
Solano were 83's by Bob Drakes and Alex Ragonton, an 84 by Tom Sabbadini and an
85 by Chuck Smith.
