On greens resembling a moonscape (due to recent aeration), three teams managed to somehow get the ball in the hole for team 58's. Led by an incredible 75 by Bruce Bartfeld, the team of Rich Perata and Bruce won the tiebreaker for first place money. Bruce had one birdie and one bogey on the front nine for an even par 36, then "limped" home with a 39 on the back. Partner Rich had a nice 86 himself playing very consistently with nines of 42-44. Winning the next tiebreaker for second place money was the team of Chris Miguel and Marty Miguel. Chris was the story here as he broke 100 for only the 3rd time shooting a 95. He had a birdie at the 13th hole and unfortunately was leaking oil at the finish going 8 over on the final three holes. Marty played a very inconsistent round with an 89 that included two birdies and 8 and two 7's on the front nine.
The third team at 58 was Peter Roosakos and Tony Abdilla. Both of these guys were playing well with scores of 84-83 respectively. In fact Tony started the back nine parring 5 of the first six holes. The only hole he didn't par was the par-5 12th. He EAGLED it!!!. Nice going Tony!
Other nice rounds at Palo Alto were 83's by Bob Drakes, Jim Keller, Ross Smiley, Chuck Smith and Frank Ruccolo. We'll see who can keep up the pace at the next event to be played at Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek on May 7th.
A cool quote about our group and why it is so great
