The course wasn't wet at all but apparently the folks at Monarch Bay felt it
necessary to keep carts on the path.  For the same unknown reason, they
apparently felt that they couldn't trim the rough for the past few months either?
Why a public course that, like all others stresses ready golf, maintains hazards that
are sure to slow play is beyond me.  Anyway, Monarch Bay was one of the slowest
rounds of the year.  At least the weather cooperated.

Joe Buenavista and Larry Lind endured this round to shoot 63 and take the 20 first
place points.  Joe, despite a disastrous 16th hole, shot an 84 to lead his team.
Larry had 3 or 4 bad holes but for the most part played reasonably well shooting
103 including a birdie 3 at the par-4 11th.

Three team tied for second with 64's.  Thierry Dubois and Bill Beyer were led by
Thierry's 91.  A 93 by Jim Suekama fueled his team along with partner Gary
Sakamoto and it was Victor Tablante's 96 leading the way with partner Steve Clark
for their 64.  Marty Miguel and Terry Greiner were next at 67.  Marty's 87 along with
Mike Wong's 89 were the only two other scores in the 80's as Monarch Bay, due in
part to the shaggy conditions, played difficult.  I'm sure the slow play didn't help
either.

Once again the "Jackpot Hole" was not won as no one could get inside 8 feet on
the fourth hole.  There will be a three-dice roll at the final event at Santa Clara and
just maybe we can get a winner!  The final Jackpot Hole of the will be worth over
$125.00.  It it goes unclaimed we'll carry it over to next year.
