Tournament Recap
Franklin Canyon Golf Course
Saturday August 13, 2011
Jim & Angelo, well mostly Angelo, prevail
at Franklin Canyon.
Jim Gustafson and Angelo Matheou shot a 31 on the front at Franklin Canyon.  Five
under is a good score but not the type of score that has you thinking you've got this
in the bag.  But when you follow that up with 28 on the back......now you've got
something.  Angelo shot net 66 with a round of 99.  Jim's net 76 (102) was not up to
his usual game but a 46 on the back nine contributed to the team effort.  Angelo
made a host of net birdies on the front including the difficult 8th and 9th holes.

Bob Drakes and Victor Tablante were second with a 61.  Bob shot 87, one of the
better rounds on the day.  His 41 on the front nine got them off to a good start.
Victor's 95 (net 70) filled in the gaps in Bob's round nicely.  Jim Suekama and Calvin
Jenn were next with 62.  Jim had the best round of the day with an 84.  Calvin birdied
the 18th and the team finished birdie, birdie, eagle making a late charge that fell just
short.  Zac Briesach also shot 87 for one of the best rounds of the day as this event
set an all time record for smallest field in a Westdivots event with 14 players.  I guess
it's a good thing the golf business is hurting as 10 years ago, most courses wouldn't
have let a tournament of this size on the course.  Usually 16 is a minimum to book a
tournament.
